AT NEHEMIAH ACADEMY, WE OFFER FAMILIES THREE FULL FAITH INTEGRATED DAYS OF INSTRUCTION!

Pre-School

The mission of this preschool class is to provide an environment for early child development that encompasses cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development based on biblical principles. Skills covered include (but are not limited to) alphabet letters, numbers, colors, shapes, opposites, learning to write with pencil, markers and crayons, and cutting paper with scissors. There is also time for free play with blocks, puzzles, toys, and physical activity. The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten coursework includes language arts, life skills, and math.  Students are introduced to science concepts and some social studies within the instruction.  Students will continue to learn the alphabet letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and opposites, They will build a foundation in phonics to help them begin the amazing journey of reading.  Students will stretch and grow their critical thinking skills.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.

First Grade

The first-grade coursework builds on the skills learned in kindergarten and includes math, language arts, social studies, and science.  Students will continue learning numbers from 1-100, shapes, patterns, counting, addition, time, and many other math concepts.  Language arts includes phonics, strengthening reading skills while introducing grammar, spelling, and writing. In history, students will learn about their story and the world around them.  In science, students will explore the days of creation and learn about the amazing things God designed each day.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.

Second Grade

The second-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science.  Math will continue to work with addition, writing numbers to 100, time, subtraction, word problems, measurement, basic fractions, and money.  In language arts, students will grow in reading, grammar, and vocabulary, as well as the mechanics of communication and writing.  Students will develop early reading and narration skills, and by the end of the year, be able to write stories of three or more sentences.  Students will also begin to learn cursive writing.  In social studies, students will learn about countries all over the world, including languages and customs.  In science, students will exploration energy, simple machines, matter, astronomy, geology, and more about God's physical world.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum. 

Third Grade

The third-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science.  In math, students will learn column addition and subtraction, continue working on word problems and basic fraction concepts, and be introduced to multiplication, division, and Roman numerals.  In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills and grow in the mechanics of communication and writing.  Students will begin to learn about paragraph structure, compound words, contractions, sentence combining, helping verbs, prepositions, spelling, and more. In social studies, students will learn the American story from ancient America to the Great Gold Rush.  In science, students will learn about God's creation of biomes, the food chain, climate, trees, and so much more.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum 

Fourth and Fifth Grades will be in the same classroom all day except for Bible.  Their prospective teachers will come to them.

Fourth Grade

The fourth-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science.  In math, students will continue building on previous concepts and add basic geometry and averaging.  In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills and grow in the mechanics of communication and writing along with creative writing, poems, psalms, and more. In social studies, students will learn the American story from the Civil War to the 1900s..  In science, students will learn about weather and water, our universe, and the planet earth.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.

Fifth Grade

The fifth-grade coursework includes math, language arts, social studies, and science.  In math, students will continue building on previous concepts and factoring with proper and improper fractions, and decimals.  In language arts, students will continue to strengthen reading, grammar, cursive handwriting, and vocabulary skills, and poem, hymn, and picture studies as well as faith-growing stories to inspire detailed and descriptive paragraphs while making real-world connections that enhance this fun and engaging story-based approach.. In social studies, students will learn the American story from the 1900s to modern times.  In science, students will learn about the world of planets, the human body, and the world of animals.  All curriculum has faith integration throughout.  The Nehemiah Academy uses the MasterBooks curriculum.
